Vice magazine cover for Zilla update

As the title suggests, I've made a bit more progress.

It's getting to the stage where I'll be changing colour every 10 minutes, and I'm having to hold back on starting any outlining.

So tempting, as it will completely change how the painting looks, but I'm going to hold off until I've finished all the colours!

More of Zilla's painting done

I've done the clothing now, quite enjoyed painting concentric circles!

I'm hosting a Fair Trade coffee morning tomorrow, so I probably won't have much time to paint. Maybe in the afternoon!

Stripes re-done

Well, I spoke too soon: I started the stripes, then realised that I'd drawn too many and had to start again! Grrrrr.

Waaaay too many stripes here - almost double what I needed. I clearly got carried away with myself!

I then painted out two out of every three stripes. this was not fun:

I then repainted them - made some wider, and painted one new stripe for every two I'd painted out:

Thankfully, I also remembered to paint the shading of the stripes in. Here they are close up as well:

This was frustrating - I hate it when i get a painting wrong, but there was no alternative, I had to repaint the whole left hand side, it would have looked silly if I hadn't, wouldn't have matched the source image at all. It would have made placing the smaller things difficult as well.

Next step, the orange and yellow top!

Secret Santa Super Mario painting

I can now post pictures of my Secret Santee's painting it was for someone in California. After some serious stalking (well, googling his name, looking on his FB, looking on StreetView and his You tube account) I discovered he'd been playing/posting about SMBW. The solution was obvious, paint the cover art.

After discussions with LewieP, we agreed the Japanese art work was the best one to do.

Here's the source image:

And here's the pencil outline:

I'll update this over the next few days.

Child's Play auction

I heard back yesterday from Jamie Dillion that the Assassin's Creed painting I donated to Child's Play raised $900 at the Charity Dinner and Auction in December; it's here:

and that the Journey painting sold for $2,000. It's here:

I'm absolutely stunned but this, and very, very happy about it. This means that more children in hospital will have access to toys, games and games consoles, including children in Manchester Children's Hospital. I was hospitalised for weeks on end as a young child, and can remember being bored, lonely and unhappy, which is why I help raise money for Child's Play.

Zilla360's painting

This is what I'm painting next, minus the words.

Its for someone very lovely who lives not too far away, so I'll be hand delivering it.
