So, I'm having an interesting day, today - delivered my husband to a Fire Station at 6:40, so he could catch a coach down to London for the march for the Alternative today (thank you, Fire Brigade Union!), came home - no way I was going back to sleep, as I have a meeting at 10:00, so decided to finish the sky.
Here's a close-up of the left:
And then a close-up of the right:
When I come back from my meeting, I may paint some more, I may have to go on a 3DS hunt!
Welcome to canvas and paints, I hope you like what you find here. This is a step by step account of the paintings I do, from pencil outline to finished piece. I mainly paint video game images to comission, to contribute to raising funds for 2 charities, Oxfam and Child's Play.

More Zelda done
I had a very busy day, yesterday, interviewing applicants to be volunteers for the 2012 Olympics in London, so I've been quite tired today.
I've done a little more on Wind Waker, so I thought I'd post where I'm up to:

Zelda sea done
Well, I've had a fun day, I've sat and drawn then painted. I can't think of a better way to spend a day off work.
Well, maybe I can, but that would involve flying somewhere and lying on a beach sipping cocktails in the sun, and realistically, that's not likely to happen for a while ...

Zelda, at Last!
At last, someone wants me to paint an image from a Zelda game - Wind Waker. I can't wait to start this one, its so pretty!
I'm off to source a canvas the right size - not sure if I have one in stock, so it might mean a trip to the painting supplies shop - such a hardship, looking at lovely brushes and such!
They actually gave me a choice of 2 images, then someone suggested that the second would look better in stained glass - sadly, I have no skills in that area, although I have painted on glass in the past ...

Star Wars almost finished
I've been painting for a couple of hours this afternoon, have to stop now, as I'm going out for dinner. here's what I've done, I should finish it tomorrow afternoon.
More on the RockBand icons
Its finished! Then all I have to decide is whether to post it off to Seattle not, or wait til I have two more done for the auction in December, and post them all together.
And yes, more of my fireplace in shot! I may just post an image of it one day, as I found the cast iron fireplace, covered in about 30 layers of paint, stripped and black-leaded it, and then build the mantle piece myself, from lengths of pine, then waxed it. I love it.

StarWars update
Here's some more of the Star Wars picture done.
This is apparently a spaceship - I thought it was a yacht at first! Oh, dear, epic fail :(
Then, I've gone on to do the land next to it (dunes?)
Then the palm trees on the dunes - whilst singing Typically Tropical's "Barbados" - funky palm trees line in particular!
My camera flash is bouncing off the picture a bit, and slightly changing the colours, but you can tell what I've done, I hope.

Rockband Icons for Child's Play third icon done
Here's an update on this painting - its building up nicely. I've not decided whether to paint the background or not - it might end up looking like a rainbow flag, so I'll probably not. (not that there's anything wrong with rainbows, I just want to make sure it makes lots of money for Child's Play at the auction).
Here's the microphone done:

Star Wars sea and sand done
I've been struggling this week, its been a relief to be able to sit and paint this afternoon. I've done a little more - the sea and sky. I'll be doing a bit more over the next couple of days. Here's what I've done:

Rockband Icons for Child's Play painting continues
Here's the next icon done - I'm pretty tired right now, so its good to have something simple to do, as I don't have the energy to focus on a more complex image.

Rockband Icons for Child's Play painting started
I heard yesterday that the Cookie Brigade (people who make and sell/give away cookies at PAX) raised $9,000 at PAX East last weekend. That is incredible.
The Cookie Brigade take lots and lots of home made goodies to PAX each year, and give them to PAX attendees, who then give them money. It amazes me that people take time out of attending a convention to do something selfless, in fact, do something selfless beforehand, in baking yummy things to give away.
Last year at PAX East, people found the Cookie Brigade a bit odd, this year, they didn't. This money goes to buy toys, games and game consoles for children's hospitals worldwide.
Anyway, hopefully this painting will raise a few hundred dollars at the charity auction in December in Seattle.
Progress so far - here's the guitar done, with the drums visible next to them.

RockBand Icons for Child's Play
After I finished the 5 RockBand icons, I decided to paint all 5 on one canvas - the person I'd painted them for as 5 canvases had included a link to an image of all 5 in a line, so I've decided to paint that for the Child's Play auction/dinner in Seattle in December.
I love RockBand, although I can't play the guitar on it for toffee - really frustrating, because I can play guitar IRL! However, I love drumming and singing, so that's what I do. I don't have a headset mike, so somewhere, there is a picture of me drumming and singing at the same time, but with the mike cable wrapped around my neck, and the mike jammed under my chin!
I also had a go of the keyboard at Eurogamer last year - rocked the hell out of "Everybody wants to rule the world" to the amazement of the guy promo-ing it!
Enough of that, here's the pencil outline:
And here's a close-up of each section:

Star Wars sky finished
I've done a little more - the clouds and the land on the horizon:
I'm off out to my Olympics volunteer recruitment training tomorrow, so probably won't get chance to paint again until Sunday.

Star Wars sky started
I spent a lovely morning today, painting the sky for the Star Wars painting. Its quite a moody sky - very dark at the top, hazy around the sun, but then cloudy and light at the horizon.
Here's the start of the sky:
I've worked on it for a while - I'm not totally happy with the haze around the sun, so I'll probably do some more on that over the next couple of days.

Star Wars pencil outline
As well as re-doing the RockBand paintings, I've done the pencil outline for the Star Wars painting. I'm going to start the sky tomorrow.
I'm also going to hunt for some youtube walk-throughs, as the image I'm working from isn't very clear, so I know I'm going to find the detail difficult unless I have a better image.

RockBand re-done
I wasn't happy with the depth of colour on the RockBand paintings, so I've re-done them - they were too translucent, I wanted the colours to be more solid. I think I've got the graduation of shade better, as well.
Maybe I was just being picky, but I'm much happier with them now, so I'll be posting them to America in the morning.
