Assassin's Creed painting for sale

Sadly, I've heard nothing from Dan who commissioned the Assassin's Creed painting. I've emailed him 4 times in the last month but have had no response from him. It's the first time in four years that this has happened, I'm sad about it but what I've learnt is to only start a commission when I have been paid rather than wait until I've finished it.

So I now have a painting for sale:

I've had a couple of people interested in it, but as it was a commissioned piece, I'd said it was spoken for. Well, its not now, so if anyone is interested in it, please contact me at canvasandpaints@gmail.com

Thank you.

Here it is, the whole thing:

I'm heading down to London in the morning for some Olympics training - volunteering, not competing, just in case anyone was daft enough to think I could compete! I'll post an update when I get back.

Darkwing Duck

My next painting will be Darkwing Duck for Malkor, here's the source image:

This one should be fun to paint!

Bastion for my secret santa

Every year I take part in the G&T Secret Santa on Penny Arcade - probably my geeky home on the internet (if there is such a thing). I couldn't post pictures of it while I was painting it, and then couldn't afterwards as my PC died and I can't access any files on it.

Instead, I've got the image the recipient took of it - its not in the best light, but when I realised I'd not posted it, I thought I would.

I had help from LewieP of SavyGamer.co.uk to choose an image to paint, as I'd not played Bastion then, and here's the finished product:

Sonic started!

I've started painting Sonic at last! The blue I'm using is translucent, even when mixed with another blue to get the shade right, so I think I'll be painting him several times until the colour is opaque.

The whole thing:

I'll be inking in his outline - I don't think my hand is steady enough to use a brush!

I think I'm OK with the cartoony look now - I think its just that I've not painted a cartoon image for a while!

Sonic ground started

I'm having a dilemma about this painting - I usually paint quite detailed images, but this one isn't. I've decided to keep the cartoon look of it, so the background is very much faded blocks of colour. See what you think:

Here's the whole thing:

I'll keep going and see how it feels.

Sonic background started

I've started the sky - I've tried to make the clouds a bit fuzzy, but not quite as fuzzy as the source image, as its a really low res image:

I'll get some more done tomorrow.

Sonic the Hedgehog

I love Sonic, it was one of the first games I played on a Master System. I was rubbish, and tried to move the controller to make Sonic go faster, but I loved it! It was my son's Master System, before that, we had an Amiga, my favourite game on that was Settlers, which I've just bought on DS. I had an Atari when they first came out, and played Space Invaders loads. My first ever game though, was Pong - my mum bought it me when I was in my teens. How times change!

Here's the pencil outline:

I've been given a link to the video this is from so I can see the context, but I'm still using a much sharper image to make sure I get Sonic right.

Happy Easter

Happy Easter everyone, hope you don't eat too much chocolate!

Sonic the Hedgehog

At last, someone wants a picture of Sonic!!!! I remember trying to play Sonic on Lewie's Master System many, many years ago, and somewhere we have a photo of him standing proudly next to the Tv when he'd completed it!

I'm looking forward to this one, here's the source image:

My only concern is that this image is very low res, but I've been sent a link to the Youtube clip that this image is from, and that's helped greatly! I'll start drawing it in the morning.

Assassin's Creed is finished!

Well, this one must go down as the longest time taken for me to paint something - being ill really gets in the way sometimes. Anyway, I've finished it, and it will soon be heading off to its new owner.

Here's the whole thing:

And close-up left:

And close-up right:

As soon as I have the new owner's address, I'll be sending it off - well, actually driving it over, as they only live about 8 miles from me!

Colour washing done

As promised, I've done the colour washing. I only used white, and put three layers on slowly - working each layer in and letting it dry before carrying on with the next. I wanted to soften all the detail, and give it a sense of haziness from the sun.

It took a while, as I had to make sure it was fairly evenly done, and then let each layer dry.

Altair next!

Detailed stuff finished

I've finished the detailed work on Assassin's Creed now.

Its far too sharp, so my next step will be to wash the whole painting in white to soften it, then I'll start Altair.

I'll probably do the colour wash in the morning.

Assassin's Creed detail started

You know that feeling you get when you just know a day is going to be good? Well, that's today!

I woke up pain free for the first time in over 2 weeks - I've had a nasty throat infection which laid me quite low, which triggered some nasty myalgia as well - its been a bit grim.

But this morning, I felt good! Even better, when I opened the post I had a card from my favourite helicopter pilot, who is currently at Camp Bastion, working hard. Rachel is safe and well, and flying high.

I've been painting as well, hence this update. Its been over 2 weeks since I last painted, its been good to spend the morning painting, and here's where I'm up to:

Here's the whole thing:

Close-up left:

Close-up right:

The image is too crisp right now, because I've not done the misty haze - I'll be doing that as soon as I have the detail finished, and then I'll make a start on Altair.
